چکیده

The auricular electrical punctual stimulation is usually applied for pain relief. The common application involves fixed stimulation parameters, which makes the simulation insensitive to prevailing pain or stress level and may lead to a disadvantageous over-stimulation. In order to address this issue, the given position paper presents an experimental background leading to a conceptual design of an adaptive and synchronized stimulation technique. Here parameters of the heart rate variability are used as stimulation biofeedback, while the stimulating signal is synchronized with cardiac or respiratory activity to boost stimulation effects.

Adaptive Fractional-order Control for Synchronization of Two Coupled Neurons in the External Electrical Stimulation

This paper addresses synchronizing two coupled chaotic FitzHugh–Nagumo (FHN) neurons with weakly gap junction under external electrical stimulation (EES). To transmit information among coupled neurons, by generalization of the integer-order FHN equations of the coupled system into the fractional-order in frequency domain using Crone approach, the behavior of each coupled neuron relies on its pa...

Effect of Transcranial Alternating Current Stimulation on Anxiety and Hemodynamic Response in Patients Undergoing Surgery: A Double-Blind Controlled Clinical Trial

Background: Pre-op anxiety has adverse effects on the patientchr('39')s anesthesia and treatment. Currently, electrical interventions are widely used as non-invasive methods to control pre-op anxiety and may have advantages as compared with medical therapies. This study aimed to determine the effect of transcranial alternating current stimulation on anxiety and hemodynamic response of patients ...

Enhancement of Frequency Domain Indices of Heart Rate Variability by Cholinergic Stimulation with Pyridostigmine Bromide

Pyridostigmine bromide (PB) is a reversible cholinesterase inhibitor. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of orally administration of single dose sustained-released tablet of pyridostigmine bromide (PBSR) on the frequency domain indices of heart rate variability (HRV). Thirty-two healthy young men were participated in this study. They were divided into 2 groups; the pyridostigmine...

Effects of Cortical and Peripheral Electrical Stimulation on Brain Activity in Individuals with Chronic Low Back Pain

Purpose: Neuroscience studies suggest that Chronic Low Back Pain (CLBP) is associated with central sensitization, and maladaptive reorganization of the brain; this introduced a new target for LBP treatment. Studies revealed that cortical and peripheral electrical stimulation can be beneficial in regulating brain neuronal activity. However, there is a scarcity of evidence to support the effects ...
